5 tips to make yourself instantly likeable

I have always been a firm believer that the human mind is judgmental by nature. From one’s physical assets to another social standing, anyone and everyone will be judged just because.

So in this era of where-everything-will-be-captured-and-posted-in-social-media we can’t help but keep up with the times by acting (whether it’s pretending or trained to kind of), dressing, talking like every moment will be captured and frozen for the world to see.

Well, here are 5 tips to make yourself instantly likeable.

1. Smile. Nothing beats a friendly, amiable, face in a crowd of people going about their business. Akin to an oasis, a smiling person in a crowd stands out and automatically attracts anyone who are unconsciously looking for a friend/s. They say, you attract bees with honey so if you want to project a positive open attitude then smiling is your best armament in any occasion.

2. Maintain a relaxed posture. Think you’d be approachable if you’re always on the defensive? Think again. Crossing your arms makes you look closed. Slouching looks pitiful. Most posture books promote sitting with your back straight but angle your head slightly to the side then smile and you’ll emit a looking-for-friends-non-threateningly aura with people just coming up to you for a chat.

3. Be agreeable but truthful, in other words – Be honest. Nothing repels potential friends more than a mister know-it-all. It’s okay to assert yourself but timing is key. Be ready to make a conversation but keep the conversation light where anyone can put in their two cents (e.g. like how you like for your guitar accessories). Be agreeable when the situation calls for it but be as honest as you can.

4. In some situations, maintaining an open curious facade makes you look smart. Remember, every genius started with one thing and that’s curiosity. Commenting on a new topic or idea with flattery will make your partner feel as though they’re sharing new information with you and they’ll be glad to expound. Plus, you might actually learn a new thing or two.

5. Lastly, always always keep eye contact with the person/people around you. Your being able to maintain eye contact will keep your new friends on their toes and make you seem confident. And for most people, confidence is the most attractive personality you can wear.

Try these out and watch as people fall under your spell.

It’s summerrrrrr!

I’m sure y’all know what that means, right? Time to bring out the suntans, lifesavers, and those swimwear to flaunt those bodies. But wait! Summer doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to stay outdoors all the time. There’s a good amount of activities that can be done under the roof, the sun and the moon. But whatever you decide to do, basically, it’s time to parteeeeh!

Now, I know all these activities can be quite harsh on the pocket, lest you have your very own personal resort, but you don’t have to have lots of funds to have fun. If you want a good party, then where’s the best free location? Where else but home!  Get that buddy of yours who loves half-playing all of the songs in your playlist or go to guitar for your rockin’ sounds, lots of chips, a bit of booze, and an awesome cleanup crew and you can have yourself the best party ever!

Of course, while you’re stocking up on those beers, sodas, and chips. Don’t forget to stock up on all the emergency numbers that you’ll need! Post them where you can easily find them like the fridge door, the doors, wall along the stairs and even right next to your DJ-buddy and you’re all set to go!

Miss Universe 2015: Philippines!

Amidst the controversies surrounding the finale of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant, the Philippines ended with taking the crown home!

Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach dominated the preliminaries with her classic grace and elegance. Plus her with her wit to match responding to the question, why she should be the next Miss Universe. She responded with:

To be Miss Universe is both an honor and a responsibility. If I were to become Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I will raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confident, and beautiful with a heart.

-Pia Wurtzbach

Even though, the ending was quite, needless to say, awkward: the show went on with Miss Universe 2014, Paulina Vega, taking the crown from fellow Colombian National, Ariadna Gutiérrez, to the rightful winner, Miss Philippines.

After 40 years, we finally get to take home the cake with our next Miss Universe title. Plus with the standards going up, we can certainly expect our next round of contestants to always making it, close if not, to the top!
