It’s indeed a very good November for the Philippines as two of our confidently beautiful candidates have successfully bagged the crown in their respective competitions.

Karen Ibasco who won the prestigious Miss Earth 2017 pageant Saturday evening, confidently answered the question as to who Mother Earth’s biggest enemy is with, “I believe that the real problem in this world is not climate change. The real problem is us because of our ignorance and apathy. What we have to do is to start changing our ways, to start recalibrating our minds and redirecting our steps because together, as a global community, our micro-efforts will have a macro-effect to help save our home, our planet.. Karen succeeded Ms. Ecuador, Katherine Espin.

Winwyn Marquez took home the Miss Hispanoamericana title this morning, as the first and only Asian candidate to win the coveted title. She wowed the judges with her response to how she would promote the Hispanic-American culture with the prevailing language barrier.

Her winning answer was, Language can be learned but the will and determination to contribute to the organization cannot. It has to come from the heart. It has to be natural. I believe that kindness is a universal language that if you treat people with tolerance, patience and love, you will understand each other.

The Hispanic culture is not about language only. Its about love for God, love for country, love for history and culture and love for family. And as a Filipina with a unique heritage, I have instilled that. I am ready to promote the Hispanic culture not just in Asia but in the whole world. It is time to celebrate the Hispanic culture. It is meant to be celebrated.

Winwyn succeeded Miss Colombia, Maria Camila Soleibe.

My Lucky Friday the 13th

Where I’m from, Friday the thirteenth is believed to be an ominous day where luck would have been nonexistent. Unlucky for some. But today, I am considering myself to be very lucky with the series of fortunate events that unfolded in the last 12 hours.

To be honest, the day didn’t really start great. Rather getting stranded for an hour and a half would be crazy. Almost missing an important event was disappointing, but everything changed when assertiveness came into play. I wanted, 100%, to be part of the women’s talk featuring Nia Taduran, who I watch every afternoon on TV at Wanted Sa Radyo. And of course, participate in the Makeup Workshop featuring celebrity makeup artist, Cezar Layno. So although I missed the first part of the session, I was able to push for participation on the workshop which was exactly what I was aiming for. (Thanks boss Ahyo for the opportunity!).

And thank God, I did. Not only was I motivated to continue with my passion for makeup, I also met these awesome folks who work to make work fun! Imagine that. 🙂

And so through meeting these brilliant people, I also got the chance to be a co-writer for the company blog! Fantastic, isn’t it?

This day is definitely one of the best I’ve had in a while and all on a Friday the thirteenth. Who would’ve thought?!

Miss Unverse 2016 is France

After a very long and exciting wait, France has finally ended it’s 63 year stagnant Miss Universe status and took home the crown with Iris Mittenaere besting all other candidates vying for the Miss Universe title with her calm, cool and collected answer and elegance on the stage.

In the final days of the countdown to the exciting coronation night (or day here in the Philippines), the social media was abuzz with picking their top 15 favorites, including the very appealing Miss Kenya, Miss Haiti, Miss Thailand, Miss Philippines, Miss USA, Miss Mexico among others.

Another favorite though, Miss Venezuela, did not make it to the top 13 with much shock as most pageantry experts had also pegged her to be a winner but the judges saw characteristics on her that ordinary spectators like us didn’t see.

But of course after much enthusiasm for this prestigious pageant and like any competition, there can only be one winner and deserving so! Congratulations, Miss France, Iris Mittenaere!

With love from the Philippines! Anyways I would love to visit guitar center a store full of good quality music instruments.
